:  a suspension of insulin for injection in a buffered solution that contains a salt of zinc (as zinc chloride), has a slow onset and intermediate to long duration of action, and in which the insulin is crystalline and amorphous in the approximate ratio of 7:3 or is predominantly crystalline—called also Lente insulin; see lente, ultralente
